Sapphire-Gymnastics Club, is a brand new and exciting club established 7th September 2010. The club is run by 6 trustees and a fundraising committee. We employ 5 paid coaches who are all registered with Scottish Gymnastics and 4 voluntary coaches. The club is a registered charity and will be opening its own dedicated gymnastics facility in March 2014 within the Maryhill Area (details to follow late Feb 2014 onwards).
Coaching experience ranging from Level 1 - Level 4, with 4 volunteer coaches working towards Various UKCC level 1 Disciplines.
The Club is at present based at Firhill Sports Complex Maryhill and we train here 5 days per week, with 17 training classes over the 5 days.
The club disciplines in Recreational, Artistic, Display, Sports Acro, 2 & 4 piece Woman's Artistic and competitive and Beginners Tumble classes.
The club is open to all boys and girls aged from school age 5 years to adult.
Sapphire Gymnastics Club is committed to equal opportunities among gymnasts and thinks every gymnast should be valued as an individual without discrimination.
In September 2010 when we opened our doors for the first time, we had 4 gymnasts and now January 2014 we are catering for 162 gymnasts.
The club has completed Glasgow Lifes "Club Mark" accreditation scheme in 2011 .
Its accreditation from Gym-Mark from Scottish Gymnastics December was completed in 2011.
The club has won various awards including "Club of the Month" with Glasgow Sports Council in January 2011 and again February 2012.
The club was also was awarded "Development Club of the Year 2011" and again in 2013.
We also have won "Young coach of the Year 2012" as well as "Junior Coach of the Year" with Sports Scotland.
In 2013 we won "National Volunteer of the Year", and "Senior Volunteer of the year 2013"
2014 is Sapphire's Year
2014 will see the club open its own facility which will incorporate a full 12m x 12m sprung floor, a competition tumble track and a woman's artistic 4 piece apparatus, as well as our new pre school classes, adult classes and eventually Disability classes
